Having grown up in the Maritimes, my art has been influenced by coastal landscapes. The ocean is a strong theme throughout my childhood memories. Visits to the cottage in Linden, Nova Scotia always started and ended with walking the length of the beach. These walks allowed for contemplation and greater understanding of myself. Tides explores my connection to the ocean, documenting me collecting water at different points throughout the Fundy tidal cycle. Sparked by a recent interest in alternative photographic processes, I explore the development of cyanotype images of video stills in ocean water further connecting the subject and image.
