In All I Need Fundy To Know About Me: A k.d. lang Tribute, I stand in three locations in Fundy National Park and sing three different songs about love and longing, all written by k.d. lang. By inserting the work of an iconic Canadian singer into an unrelated landscape, I explore the difficulty in finding one cohesive national identity. The work is personal, in that it asserts my identity as a queer Albertan; at the same time, through its melancholic and melodramatic tone, All I Need… challenges the expectation for all Canadians to experience reverence for the beauty of nature.
Images, audio, and video were all shot in Fundy National Park with help from Evan Furness, Nelligan Letourneau, and the Mount Allison University Fine Arts Department
