My works are bridges, between art and science, and questions about our relation to micro-organisms, artificial and natural, human nature. I work mainly with found objects and living organisms.
« Floating Islands » are the plastic bags floating in the Mingan Archipelago and Lachine Canal, coated with the micro-organisms from the eco-system around them. To unveil the invisible specificity of the two sites, I transferred the micro-organisms present on the bags’ surface on strips of fabric soaked in nutrient broth. Plastic bags migrated as the first European colonizers from south to north, and will come back with me, as a pollution symbol.
